Letter To Barack Obama And John McCain

June 7, 2008

Open letter to Senators Barack Obama & John McCain

RE: Ensuring Open Internet to benefit all Cities and Communities.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Delray Beach, FL. will be launching a new city wide 3.65 GHz WiMAX broadband wireless network through a unique public/private partnership.

The business model calls for the offering of core WiMAX wireless internet access and services for our citizenry, businesses and local government. The revenues generated through these core services and applications will be used to develop new programs or enhance the following within our community:

Core Services and Applications

  • Enhanced public safety, first responder applications
  • Municipal departmental applications
  • Low cost / free internet core access (3-5mps)
  • Digital Access, Inclusion, Literacy programs
  • Economic stimulus
  • Health and financial services
  • Public access television
  • Public utilities
  • Local business internet marketing services, residential, and community portals
  • Energy Management Services (EMS) / Green Initiatives
  • School system access / Educational tools / subsidize new programs
  • Public employee services
  • VPN’s / VAR’s / Resellers
  • Employer Outreach / Distance Learning & Training / Job Creation
  • Visitor Services / Hospitality Packages
  • Private security / video surveillance / DVR access
  • Digital connectors programs

As we migrate from being tied to 'wire line' internet access and services our WiMAX network, which the public/private partnership will own and operate, will provide significant funding to develop and sustain operations of the above mentioned core services and applications.

One of our partners is One-Economy Corp, a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of underserved, low-income, or poverty level households through digital access, inclusion, and literacy programs. Several articles are also available for reference regarding this initiative and can be found at:

As we move forward it is our hope that all communities and cities within our great Country will adopt similar practices and models that will greatly enhance our cash starved communities and local governments' ability to provide these much needed programs and services.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

I am,
Sincerely,

Brad Bowman
